Children in Broadford National School have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of sports. P.E. is a subject which is much enjoyed by pupils and we are lucky enough to have a wide range of resources in the school.
Every year, the children participate in swimming lessons in the nearby town of Trim. By the end of Sixth Class almost every child is, at the very least, a competent swimmer.
Our traditional sports are very popular in the school. At lunch-time, football matches are regularly organised. Football is also played competitively, where both boys and girls compete in the Cumann na mBunscoil competition.
Every year, children from 1st to 6th Class receive football training from a visiting coach on a weekly basis.
Teams from the school have also achieved great success in Cross Country competitions.
Another visiting coach takes children in 5th and 6th Class for Tag Rugby. This is very popular among the pupils, and is much anticipated every year. Sessions end with a blitz, which is thoroughly enjoyed by all.
